Welcome from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the St. James Catholic School website! A special greeting to those visiting our school website for the first time! We are proud of our Catholic spirituality and academic excellence that we have maintained for more than 100 years. Our school is administered by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary from Immaculata, PA who work with a dedicated faculty and staff to enrich the lives of our students within the Diocese of Arlington.

As you tour the website, you will see the many reasons we are a great school for your child. From the local community to the national level, our students are recognized for their outstanding achievements in academic, altruistic, artistic and athletic endeavors. We can boast of many academic awards, the most recent being ranked fourth in the state of Virginia in the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Talent Search for 2009.

Yes, we are competitive in the educational environment. However, we are unique because as a Catholic school we teach the whole child: spiritually, academically and morally. Students in our upper grades are the leaders of our school. Ask our eighth grade students, who will tell you they are thrilled they completed their St. James experience through graduation.

By visiting in person, you will really CATCH THE SPIRIT OF ST. JAMES!

Prayerfully,

Sister Mary Sue Carwile, IHM

St. James is very special to all of us. It is an honor and privilege to work with parents and teachers as we help our students grow into mature Catholic adults ready to meet the challenges of the future. Take time to visit our school through our website, but more importantly, take time to visit our school in person.
