Playground volunteers are needed!
Each family is asked to sign up for at least one shift for each child's grade. All are welcome!
You must be Virtus trained with a background check to volunteer.

Playground volunteers support our children during recess and enjoy themselves in the process!
The schedule is in 20-minute time blocks that match the recess schedule. This allows parents the flexibility to supervise when their child is at recess and to also sign up for just one recess or multiple shifts per day. We ask that each family commit 4 shifts per school year for each child at St. James. All playground volunteers must be compliant with the Diocese and VIRTUS trained.
Recess Schedule:
- Grades 2 and 3: 11:10am – 11:30am
- Grades K and 1: 11:34am – 11:54am
- Grades 4 and 5: 11:58am – 12:18pm
- Grades 6,7 and 8: 12:22pm – 12:42pm
At this time all recesses will take place on B Lot
When you arrive, please have your driver’s license with you to sign in at the front office to get a visitor badge.
Our parent volunteers are essential to a successful partnership with the teachers and faculty to ensure our students are supervised and safe. Parents are there to provide support to the kids, give them positive reinforcement for great behavior and assist in small ways, right down to tying shoes and zipping jackets. Supervising the playground is great opportunity to interact with the children in a fun and informal way.
