L21-22 Estar Quiz

Have a blessed Holy Week (Semana Santa) & Easter break! :)

Fri, 4/3: Today will be some practice of estar, feelings & locations.  Be ready for a quiz on Monday!

1. Write the date in Spanish in your copybook & 5 sentences using estar: how people feel & when/why, and/or where they are in the house/other places we know.  (See below for more examples/ideas.)  Remember that you use "estar" for "how you feel and where you are"!
2. Conjuguemos Graded Practice: 5 min. vocab + 5 min. verbs
3. Play games on conjuguemos for 10 minutes (maybe you can find another classmate online to play with!)
4. Be ready for a quiz Monday on estar (know which forms have accent marks!), feelings (the 5 in the book) & rooms in the house.

Some examples/ideas for your Spanish estar sentences: (things you should be able to say entirely in Spanish)
- ___ is in the dining room because he/she is eating.
- I am happy because I go to school at home.
- I am sad because I am not with my friends.
- I am not late to the class of Spanish.
- I am  happy when I play basketball in the park with my friends.
- She is sad when it rains because she doesn't play at the beach.
- They are not going to school because they are sick.
- We watch a movie when we are tired and we don't play soccer.
- I am surprised that ___ is in the ___.

Wed, 4/1: Be sure to have your Spanish book and erasable pen/pencil with you for class by video today.

1. Watch this video & correct your workbook pages.
2. Finish the assignment at the end of the video.
3. Ask your parents to email me pictures of these pages (p.72-73) by the weekend.
4. If you get a chance to practice typing accent marks in Spanish, here is a document to help you: Typing Accent Marks
5. Practice saying how you or your family are feeling at different times and where you or your family members are.

Mon, 3/30: Today we will have a live Zoom class.  There is no other assignment.  I will send an email invitation to your parents and the few email addresses that I have for you.  Por favor, have your Spanish supplies with you (WB, CB, folder, pen/pencil) when we start.  If, for any reason, you are not able to get online for the class, please email me, and I can send you the link for the video.  If you have a hard time getting in, please let me know what is happening, so I can help you troubleshoot (though this will probably be after the class for next time).  [Students: Remember that if you email your teachers directly, you need to add your parent's email address(es) as well, so that we can keep them in the loop.]

Schedule: I will have jobs for this class; I will explain during class how they will work on Zoom.
5-25: 10:00 Zoom class: Fecha: Joshua D; Rezar: Sonia
5-29: 11:00 Zoom class: Fecha: Joshua C; Rezar: Ella

A couple notes:
1. Have all of your Spanish materials handy before class (workbook, copybook, folder, pencil or erasable pen).

2. I would like to greet each of you as you come in, so please unmute yourself when you first come in, greet me in response to my greeting, then mute yourself again.

3. While you are waiting to enter, think about how you are feeling today so you can answer with a Spanish sentence after you greet me.  You may use the feelings from our book or from the sheet I posted the other day.  Make sure you use the "yo" form of estar, and the adjective with the correct ending.

4. If you have questions during class, raise your hand (on the Zoom meeting window, click on Participants, and you should see an option at the bottom to raise your hand). When I call on you, you may unmute to ask your question. Then lower your hand with the same button.

5. The chat window will be used to help with technical issues & for some responses only (I will tell you), NOT for random chatter. I will turn it off if it is no longer useful. Please be respectful of all of our time & effort.

¡Hasta luego! :)

3/27 (due today): Have your Spanish book out & open this file, which has some other adjectives about feelings.  You may print it out if you like, but it is not required.  If you do print it, glue it in your copybook, por favor.

1. Escribe la fecha en español en el cuaderno (write the Spanish date in your copybook).

2. Write at least one sentence in Spanish in your copybook about how you or a classmate or family member is feeling/feels.  You may use one of the sentences from p.70, or you may make one up, but include a description of when or why they feel that way.  You may use any of the feeling words from Lesson 21 or from the other sheet.  Use the sentences on p.70 as examples.
**Don't forget the accent marks on some forms of estar, and that you might need to change the adjective endings to be feminine and/or plural!
You DO NOT need to send a picture of this at this point.  I might ask you for it later.

3. Do Graded Practice on conjuguemos.com: 5 minutes of verbs & 5 minutes of vocab.  You may use your book.

¡Feliz fin de semana! (Happy weekend!) :)

3/25 (due by Fri.): There is another screen-share video for today.  Please have your Spanish folder and workbook with you for the Spanish lesson.

-Watch this video, & participate by repeating & following along in your book, & making corrections as necessary.  The assignment is at the end.

-Don't forget to take a picture of your work and email that to me (or ask your parents to do it).  If you email me directly, make sure to include your parents' email addresses in the email as well, to keep them in the loop.  If you could put your class on the subject line as well, that would be helpful.  ¡Muchas gracias!

3/23: Today's lesson will be on video.  Please have your Spanish folder, copybook, & workbook with you for the Spanish lesson.  Watch this screen-share video, & participate by repeating, doing motions, & following along in your book as directed.  The assignment is given at the end of the video.

Parents, please take a picture of your student's work in the workbook and email that to me sometime before Wednesday so I can see that it is finished.  I would like to give this a try and see how it works.  Please email me if you have any questions or difficulties with the video, etc.

3/20: ¡Buenos días, chicos!  Por favor, keep reviewing el vocabulario en el libro p.207-208, & the verbs: jugar, mirar, gusta, comer, beber, tomar, ir...

-Remember that conjuguemos has games and other activities that you can do/play to help you review.  If you coordinate a time with a classmate, you can play with them as your Spanish review!

-Also, I wanted to make available to you the Kahoot! that we started the other day in class.  This was made from the sentences that you wrote down using the verb "ir".  You can play it anytime up through Sunday night.  This is also a great way to review!  It is a little long, so give yourself some time to do it.  (Unless you are signed in to the app, you are not able to leave it and come back to finish it.)  Por favor, sign in with your name or initials.  There are no timers on this challenge, so take your time, and really try to figure them out.  Have fun! :)
