(Sister Mary Sue assigned that date for 4th grade). I will send a reminder and list of books to return. (If it rains, go to B Lot). Mrs. Green will be there to help. There will be a lost and found area and a table to buy yearbooks.

Religion Class: The Holy Spirit and Day of Pentecost

  1. Key words: Pentecost (means 50) the 50th day after Jesus was raised from the dead. On this day, the Holy Spirit was sent from heaven, and the Church was born. Fruits of the Holy Spirit - the signs of the Holy Spirit's action in our lives. Holy Spirit - the third person of the Trinity, who is sent to us as our helper and, through Baptism and Confirmation, fills us with God's life.
  2. Name the 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, goodness, modesty, and chastity (evidence of the Holy Spirit working in our lives).
  3. Listen to my lesson: Click here. (6.48 minutes).
  4. Pentecost Craft: Make a windsock. (Optional). Here are directions. Windsocks are used at airports to show which way the wind is blowing to help pilots to take off and land safely. Windsocks are also used to help predict the weather and they are used to help guide to Space Shuttle pilots to a safe landing upon their return from space. No one can see the wind, but we know the wind is there because the windsock shows us that it is there. God's Holy Spirit is somewhat like the wind. We can't see him, but we know that he is there because we can see the effects of his power in our lives. The Holy Spirit is very important to us.
  5. Learn: What are some of the ways that the Holy Spirit helps us?
  • He comforts us when we are sad and alone. (John 15:26)
  • He guides us in the way of truth. (John 16:13)
  • He helps us when we don't know how to pray. (Romans 8:27)
  • He lives inside us and gives us life. (Ezekiel 37:14)
  • He shows us the good things God has for us. (1 Corinthians 2:9-11)

Parent Note:

I want to thank you parents for your partnership this year, especially during these challenging past 6 weeks when we've had to work harder to keep the essential learning going for the children. Toward this goal, I have created over 130 video lessons, and I have sometimes supplemented them with YouTube videos. I have carefully watched these videos and believe they provide a valuable tool, but, only with your help and permission, may your children view them. This is just one area where our partnership pays dividends. By working together, we won't lose these precious weeks of fourth grade. I am proud to be a teacher at St. James Catholic School where parents and teachers work together to ensure student success!
